Invited Industry Speakers Selected for IMECE 2015 Invited Industry Speakers Selected for IMECE 2015 Invited Industry Speakers Selected for IMECE 2015Four executives from Halliburton, the Ford Motor Company, and GE Oil Gas have been confirmed as the speakers for the Invited Industry Presentation program at the ASME 2015 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in Houston, Texas. Brown Convention Center.The Invited Industry Presentation program was launched last year at IMECE 2014 to encourage more engineers from industry to attend and participate in the conference. Andrey FilippovAndrey Filippov, Ph.D., principal technical advisor at Halliburton, will speak at the first of this years Invited Industry Presentations on Monday, Nov. 16, from 115 p.m. to 200 p.m. Dr. Filippov has more than 30 years of grenzberschreitend experience in oil and gas industry, ceramic materials and electronics components industry and leading academic research centers in applied mathematics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer. In 2011, Filippov joined Halliburton, where he is currently leads research and development for oil and gas drilling, hydraulic fracturing and production. He received his masters and doctoral degrees from Lomonosov Moscow State University and worked as a research associate focusing in aerosol physics and multiphase fluid dynamics at the Institute of Mechanics in Moscow, the University of Duisburg in Germany, ETH Zurich in Switzerland, and Yale University. Bruno BarthelemyThe second Invited Industry Presentation, on Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 115 p.m. to 200 p.m., will feature Bruno Barthelemy, Ph.D., chief engineer of global automotive body structures at Ford Motor Co. Dr. Barthelemy joined the research department of Ford Motor Co. in 198 8, and since then has worked in a variety of capacities in product development throughout the companys United States, Europe and Asia operations. Barthelemy graduated from the University of Liege in Belgium in 1982 with bachelors and masters degrees from the universitys electrical and mechanical engineering department. He completed his graduate studies at Virginia Tech, where he received a masters degree in engineering sciences and mechanics and a Ph.D. from the department of aerospace and ocean engineering. Egidio (Ed) Marotta and Stephen SzpunarEgidio (Ed) Marotta, Ph.D., and Stephen Szpunar of GE Oil Gas will speak at the final Invited Industry Presentation, to be held Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 115 p.m. to 200 p.m. As the systems analysis and modeling manager for the companys Systems Engineering and Advanced Technology (SEAT) Team, Dr. Marotta works across GE Oil Gas to develop strategic roadmaps for advanced systems simulation and modeling. He is also an adjunct professor in th e mechanical engineering departments Subsea Engineering Program at the University of Houston. Szpuanar, the advanced mechanical and mechatronics system design manager at GE Oil Gas, joined GE Aviation in Cincinnati in 1979 and worked there until 1996. He rejoined GE in 2010 as team leader of advanced turbomachinery for GE Oil Gas.
